Rhys Lee & Iliodora Margellos' Double Opening at Dio Horia Gallery Acropolis, Thursday, April 6, 19:00–22:00!

Dio Horia is pleased to present Rhys Lee's residency show 'Sometimes I'm a Tree' and Iliodora Margellos' solo project 'Histonas (Room of Webs)', featuring new works by the artists, on view at Dio Horia Gallery Acropolis, April 6 – May 6, 2023.

At the ground floor of Dio Horia Acropolis, Rhys Lee’s unique, experimental and raw practice reveals a highly intuitive process. Shifting the boundaries between representation and abstraction, the artist puts on view an ethereal quality, crafting memories in a moment of cathartic release, expressed through a vibrant color palette, broad brushstrokes, sparse but pointed elements of detail, and textured visceral forms.

At Dio Horia Acropolis Annex, using surface reflection and thread as a medium for embroidery, weaving, and beading, Iliodora Margellos invites the viewer to experience the Greek topos, as a reference to the abundance of color in Greece’s multitude of islands and the infamous element of the sun as a source of light, combined with the lasting tradition of feminine roleplay and an ever-evolving discourse that involves the nostalgia of a past non-space and the ongoing intensity of our present times.
